Looking for league-style ultmate frisbee play in the San Francisco Bay Area? Then you've come to the right place, because Ultimate leagues are what we do best. Most leagues currently support mixed-gender play in either 4:3 or 5:2 configurations, although some (Ocean Beach League and Women's Fall League) provide alternatives. If you're ready to register, scroll down to "Signups" to see up-to-the-minute registration status information for each league.
The targeted level of play and the way in which we take registrations vary as listed below for: A) Recreational Hat Leagues; B) Competitive Draft Leagues; C) Club Leagues. Depending on the time of year and where you live, you're bound to find a league that's right for you.
Teaching and promoting Spirit Of The Game is the first priority in our Recreational Hat Leagues. Competition is highly encouraged, but never at the expense of having fun or enjoying the sport. You register as an individual, and the league administrators will match you to a team that is balanced by skill level and gender. While all Recreational Hat Leagues are beginner-friendly, these leagues are very popular with intermediate to advanced-level players, too.
We currently offer Recreational Hat Leagues 12 months out of the year in San Francisco, the East Bay, and Marin. Visit the home pages of each league for more information according to your area of interest:
Additionally, we have run a 3-week Women's Fall League the last two years, in 2010 and 2011. The Women's League has been enormously popular, and we're looking into ways to expand these types of offerings.
The final bit of news to share is about South Bay Ultimate League (SBUL). We have begun preliminary talks to incorporate SBUL into the Bay Area Disc family in time for the winter 2012-13 season. SBUL went through a complete leadership overhaul in 2011, and we definitely explored the possibility of bringing them in this year. However, we mutually agreed that holding off one more year would be best for everybody.
Have you just moved here after playing club or college Ultimate in another region? Whether you're a free agent trying to hook up with a new team for next season, or just looking to chill after the last season, our Competitive Draft Leagues could be just for you. You register as an individual, then your name goes into a draft pool. If you are drafted, your captain will notify you the week before games begin. Undrafted players are moved to the wait list.
The only Competitive Draft League we offer at this time is the San Francisco Winter League, whose season typically runs from November to March each year.
The Club Summer League (CSL) targets Mixed club teams looking for more regular practice and scrimmage time against other club-level competition, but it also takes in pickup teams, too. So, even if you're not planning on playing weekend club tournaments or USA Ultimate Fall Series, you can form a team with any players of your choosing and apply for a bid to CSL. Free agents looking for a permanent team for the current club season, or who wish to join a pickup team, are highly encouraged to register as 'Individual.'
NOTE: The CSL is one of the only event offerings we have that does NOT take registrations online using individual player profiles. Thus, the status of CSL is never reflected in the 'Signups' area you see below. The only way to register for this event, or to get other up-to-the-minute information on CSL is to visit this league's main home page. Creating online tools for CSL is one of the priorities of Project High Release, as described on our main home page.
If the areas that we serve aren't quite within your reach, try looking up our friends down up north at Sacramento Ultimate Players Association (SUPA).
Signups opened for the latest event on Wednesday, May 09, 2012 at 12:00 PM. Click the Sign up NOW button below to continue.
