San Francisco Winter League (SFWL)

The SFWL is the competitive player's choice for mixed, league-style play during the winter off-season in San Francisco. Our season starts in early November and runs through the last week of February. The regular season cuminates in an End-of-Season Tournament and Party held on the last weekend of February.

Our promise to you: The SFWL will never give you up, let you down, run around and desert you. Moreover, the SFWL will never make you cry, say goodbye, or tell you a lie and hurt you.

2011-12 News & Info

SFWL pioneered PlayerCam. Now if we could only get it to stay on when Georgia lays out.

It's that time of year again!

So you're wondering about signups for SFWL, eh? Well, here's the scoop:

Registration for SF Winter League 2011-12 will open on Monday, October 24. Closing date is TBD. The draft will be the week after Nationals, exact date TBD. Please check our Best Perspective Ever blog for updates.

Each team plays one game per week, either on Tuesday or Thursday. (Your captains will have the schedule, and it will be posted on the blog as well. The regular season runs through the end of Feburary.)

In response to a request by many of you, this year we've pushed the start time for games back to 7:30PM. Games are to 15, with a hard hard cap at 17. Each team has 1 TO per half, plus a floater.

The End-of-Season Tournament is the last weekend in February at Crocker Amazon. This year that's Feb. 25-26, 2012. The End-of-Season Party is Saturday night, Feb. 25 at El Rio.

We play out on the turf at Crocker Amazon fields.

Please beware that SFWL is a little different than other leagues run by Bay Area Disc. How, you ask? Great question. Let's take a look, shall we?

  1. SFWL is NOT first-come, first-served. When you register, your name goes into a pool for our Draft. On Draft Night, the captains make their picks, then we notify you if you are selected. We apologize in advance if you are not drafted, but due to the extreme popularity of this league, we cannot place every applicant onto a team.
  2. SFWL is NOT subject to the same residency requirement as the SF Rec League which operates during the spring, summer, and fall. Anybody who can get to the fields, regardless of home city of residence, is welcome to sign up!
  3. SFWL has its own rules for baggage requests. The registration system will explain what you can and cannot ask for after you login.
  4. SFWL has partnered with our friends at Five Ultimate to provide sweet jerseys for the league. The old days of cotton t's are gone. What that also means is that women have the choice to order a women's or men's jersey depending on preferred cut. I suppose if that means men can order a slimming women's cut if they really want too. In any case, keep that in mind as you select shirt size.

If you have any questions about these policies, please write to the Contact Info given below.

Good Luck at Natties!

Congratulations to Revolver, Fury, Blackbird, Polar Bears, and Wheelchair for qualifying for Nationals. Kick some ass and represent, yo!
