Eric Arons SF Rec. League is a beginner friendly, mixed Ultimate hat league, and it's a great way to learn Ultimate. Every season we have a blend of experienced players and first-time players. The focus of the league is on education and fun - winning is secondary.
Spring (March, April, May)
Tuesday League and Thursday League
Summer (June, July, August)
Fall (September, October, November)
Discounted early bird registration opens at 12:00 PM (noon) on Wednesday, August 17 and ends on Tuesday, August 30. Regular registration begins begins on Wednesday, August 31.
This league sells out extremely quickly for men. There are some flaws with sign ups but the alternatives (e.g. a lottery) aren't much better. We are trying to increase the other opportunities to play in the bay area. Please check out other leagues and/or our listing of pick up games. Players that join the league from the wait list during the season or that register for the league during the season will be charged a pro-rated registration fee.
Schedule, Game Times and Location
The league runs Sundays, September 11 - November 20 from 1:00pm - 3:00pm at Golden Gate Park Polo Fields
Level of Play
Ultimate is easy to learn and hard to perfect, so it's a great sport for beginners or for veteran athletes looking to master something different. Even if you've never thrown a disc before, you can learn to play Ultimate. You don't have to be a triathlete, but there will be a lot of running and some sprinting. If you aren't already in shape learning Ultimate might just inspire you to become so.
Spirit of the Game
The Eric Arons SF Rec. League is a beginner friendly league; therefore spirited play is critical. To reward and recognize spirited play we instituted the team spirit award. Each game captains rank the spirit of the opposing team. At the end of the season the results are collated to determine the team Spirit award. Players on the winning team get priority registration to the next season of league. If you would like to use a spirit award, please contact the league director when registration is announced. We cannot add people to teams after registration.
San Francisco Recreation and Parks department identifies this league as a public benefit and gives us a substantial discount on the fields. This allows us to keep the league fees low. In order to maintain our public benefit status, we must give SF residents priority at registration for spring, summer and fall leagues.
